Shining Light Regional Cooperation Awards

More than ever, regional cooperation is critical to the success of metropolitan Detroit. A cooperative spirit among our communities is key to creating the common vision and commitment required to improve our area’s economic competitiveness and quality of life.

To nurture this sense of regional community, the Detroit Free Press and the Metropolitan Affairs Coalition have partnered to create the Shining Light Regional Cooperation Awards, which will honor individuals who are making important contributions to regional cooperation, progress, and understanding in metropolitan Detroit.

The inaugural Shining Light Awards took place on November 8, 2007 and honored the late long-time Free Press editor and publisher Neal Shine as well as four regional leadears - Marian and Michael Ilitch, Eleanor Josaitis, and Dave Bing. More information on the 2007 event and honorees can be found at www.shininglightawards.com.

Future Award Winners
Shining Light Award winners in 2008 and beyond will be selected through a public nomination process that is designed to recognize people who have demonstrated leadership and courage in furthering regional cooperation. Information on the nomination process will be available at www.shininglightawards.com in 2008.
