Grosse Ile Parkway Bridge
This is the last truss swing bridge built in Michigan.  It was constructed in 1873 for the Michigan Central Railroad and rebuilt for automobile traffic in 1931.  The bridge approach on Grosse Ile is a favorite nesting site for Common Tern, a state threatened species.

Thorofare Canal (South)
Existing Conditions: Although most property along the canal is private, at least two areas are owned by Grosse Ile Township that could provide access to soft shore launch points.

Recommendations: Investigate potential for development of soft shore launches at the Grosse Ile Township Wastewater Treatment Plant, approximately one-quarter mile inland from Trenton Channel, and north of Horse Mill Road (see Vision Plan for Thorofare Canal-North launch location).
