Downtown Trenton
Founded in 1834 by War of 1812 veteran Major Caleb Treaux, Trenton was home to shipbuilding yards that fueled an industrial economy. The waterfront now has three beautiful pocket parks while downtown boasts a new streetscape, restaurant, and shops.

Elizabeth Park
Originally known as Slocum’s Island, this land was donated in 1919 by the Slocum family to become Wayne County’s first park. It has a peaceful canal perfect for the novice paddler and each year is home to the “Paddle By Your Refuge” event, held in the early fall during the “Taste of Trenton/Somewhere in Time” festival.

Elizabeth Park Landing
Existing Conditions: Restrooms and water are within a five-minute walk from an undeveloped soft shore launch area along the bank of the canal, southwest of the entrance bridge.
Recommendations: Develop a launch facility along the canal with interpretive signage. Potential livery location.

Existing conditions: The concrete launch is not ideal for non-motorized watercraft. Recommendations: Elizabeth Park canal is the recommended launch point |
